Royal Mail Group Occupational Health & Wellbeing Workshops for CWU ASRs Announced

National Health, Safety & Environment Officer Dave Joyce, has confirmed in his letter to CWU’s postal branches (LTB535/15) that it has been agreed with the Royal Mail Group Head of Health that a series of 3 Occupational Health and Wellbeing Regional Workshops for CWU Area Health and Safety Reps (ASRs) will take place, on a one per Royal Mail Opps Regional basis.

All Area Safety Reps are invited to attend, including RM Opps, RM Logistics, RM Parcelforce, RM Engineering and RM Fleet etc.

The events will take place in September and October.

Pic: CWU's Dave JoyceThe Health, Safety and Environment Department have been pursuing a 'CWU Occupational Health Priorities" Agenda over the last year which includes a number of CWU Conference Policies.

These ongoing discussions have been taking place with Judith Grant, Royal Mail Group Head of Health and Wellbeing, since her appointment.

Judith has been running a number of one-day Occupational Health and Wellbeing Workshops for the RMG Safety, Health and Wellbeing Team, both the Central and Regional teams to set out and report on the work, standards and policy Development she has been developing and to promote the health and wellbeing strategy and support available in the Royal Mail.

The workshop events cover priorities, standards, policies and improving processes and for getting prompt attention to health problems.

The events will be an important step to make progress on Health and Wellbeing issues, extending involvement and input and improving working relationships, moving forward positively.

Once the programme of meetings has been completed, there will be a joint national review of the action points from the meetings.

It has been agreed that three events will be run for CWU ASRs and nominations are now invited. (Some SHE people and CMA ASRs who were unable to attend their own events may also participate in the CWU dates. A forth 'Mop-Up' event may be added if required at the end of the programme to cover all those unavailable for the advertise dates.

These meetings have been agreed and arranged firstly for CWU ASRs to meet the RMG National Health of Health Judith Grant face to face and for Judith to summarily outline her Occupational Health and Wellbeing strategy and plans for Royal Mail Group going forward and to emphasise the importance of RM/CWU joint working on Health and Wellbeing improvements and initiatives and to give updates on national initiatives and joint talks as well as for CWU ASRs to talk directly, face to face, with the National Head of Health in an open forum about current occupational Health and wellbeing issues and concerns plus ongoing, developments and programmes etc, along with day to day issues ASRs have.
